Bad Fairy

Have you ever forgot about your child losing a tooth?  It's happened around here, more times than I'd like to admit.  Poor Gladys had to make a sign and barricade the stairs to get the Tooth Fairy's attention.  Sheesh, good thing Santa and the Easter Bunny are punctual!

The weather here in Pendleton has been extra nice lately.

Dustball has been camping out on the sill.  Isn't he a cutie?

Speaking of cute, I meet some ducks at the new fishing hole, that had feather-dos.

The two lady ducks have pretty little puffs on their heads.

They followed us around the lake.  Possibly because Troy kept throwing bread to them.  :)

All I kept catching at the lake was small gills, so I went to Fall's Park.

What a pretty day to spend at the park!

I waded over to the good spots.

And STILL only got small fish.  Sheesh, I'm beginning to notice a trend here...

I was surprised that the hook I was using could even fit into small fish!

Justin, Jean and I went back to the new fishing hole for the evening bite, later that day.

I didn't mean for Jean's pic to be blurry.  I told the kids that we all had to get a decent fish on the fly before we left; five minutes later, we left.

Oh, the sad thing is the bass no longer seem to like me very much.  I tried for them all day and couldn't catch one to save my life.  I have no idea what is up with that, other than the water has been murky and I normally tend to sight fish for them.  Lately, I've been blind fishing and just hoping for a bite.

Moving Break

Moving!  That's the theme around this household lately.  Jean and I had a little time to catch a break from all the packing, so we went fishing.

We started off at Fall's Park.  Jean has a new fly rod and needed to break it in.

She did just that, as the gills were biting like crazy at the pond there.

We also gave Fall's Creek a try.  I was hoping for a bass, and did get one young large mouth.  Other than that, all I got was a bunch of small gills.  I even waded the creek, to get to some of the more reliable spots, and still only got gills.  It was fun though.

The park was crowded, so we drove down the road a little ways to try out a new lake for the first time.  Even though it's just another Indiana Lake, I was excited to fish it.  Right away, Jean caught a pretty green sunfish.

I caught a very blue, bluegill, that refused to pose on my hook for a pic. (He swam away right after Jean snapped his pic.

And of course, a bunch of small gills.   I'm going to have to tie on some bigger flies!  The fishing was fun, but I ran out of time before I was ready to leave, as usual.

The kids have requested more Strawberry Pretzel Desert, so I made another one for them.  This time I topped it with the cream layer and fresh berries.  Ain't she (ole glory) pretty?

I still don't have a moving date yet, and it's driving me nuts.  See, I have become the type of person that likes to have a plan.  The kiddies start school here on August 4th, and their new school in Valparaiso, begins a few weeks later.  So, with any luck, I can start them early here and get me a little r & r, then move the weekend before school starts there.  Good plan, ahy?  ;)

4th of July

Presenting-- Troy's 4th of July sidewalk artwork:

Gladdie made Banana Muffins the morning of the forth, all by herself!

For lunch, the kiddies had fun and festive drinks.  Aren't they pretty?

The trick is to use lots of ice to help keep the layers from blending when pouring.

Also, the beverage with the highest sugar content goes on the bottom.  In this case, it's the Cran-apple juice.  Next, I poured in 7up.  I thought it would make a good middle layer.  It didn't, but it tasted good anyways.  The sugar content is to close to that of the juice.  The pretty blue Gatorade is the low-calorie kind, so it worked out well for the top layer.

That's all their is to these fun layer drinks.

Say--you like my bracelet?  Gladdie and I made beaded bracelets for a fun girl's night the other night.

After lunch, we headed out to Lake Summit.

The weather was gorgeous!

We floated around and had a relaxing afternoon on the water.

And IN the water.

The kids swim every chance they get.

I usually do too, unless I get to fish, but I just went in for a quick dip.  Glenn was with us, so I didn't fish.

The best thing to the kids is jumping off the front of the toon.  They do that again and again; it never seems to get old for them!

Troy likes playing "being rescued".

Lassie, I mean Sophie, will save him!

They wore their selves out and worked up and appetite.

We went out to Pizza King for the first time ever.  Oddly, and nostalgically, Pizza King has telephones at every table and that is how we ordered our pizza!!!

After supper, we drove to Fall's Park and the entire way was decorated with flags!

The charming town square also had flags on all the lamp posts!

As soon as we got to the park, the kids harnessed up for the rock climbing wall.

I'm going to have to give that a try again sometime soon.

Next, they suited up for a wrestling match!

I know-- how perfect for Gladdie and Troy, with any luck they will both knock one another out cold and I'll get some kid free time!  Opps, did I actually type that thought?  :)

Gladdie won.  Troy, swung at her and missed and fell right off his podium!  I thought, this too looks like something I should try soon.  Kids get to have all the fun!

As dusk set in, so did we.  Amazingly, we found a front row spot and I brought along some Pop-it's (they explode when thrown on the ground) to keep the kids entertained while we awaited the fireworks.

Three minutes later...

We waited and waited...

Then fell asleep...

Finally, it was dark enough for the fireworks!  Poor Troy still slept through half of the show.

The parking lot light was kinda killing it for us.  I tried to throw a rock at it to put it out, but I'm not a very good aim.  I hit a cop in the back of the head instead.  It's ok though, I blamed it all on Glenn.  :)
