Turtles

Hey-- Check out this little one!

Nooo, it's not a rock, it's a newly hatched turtle!

Specifically, an alligator snapping turtle!  The two oldest kids, Grace and Hub, had found one just like it while we were at the beach years ago.  They placed it on my bare belly with a pile of rocks and I jumped right up!

It's little tail is so cute!  Instinctively, the baby headed right for the water!

The journey was rather tough, as some of the rocks were tricky to climb over.  I helped the lil feller out.

As soon as the baby reached the water it found a hiding spot under some weeds!  Hey-- I can still see you, Silly!

Another baby surprise at the fishing hole was a trout!  With all the rain lately, it must have found it's way to this pond!

My duck fishing buddy is still right where I left him!  As soon as he notices it's me, he runs up to great me!

Babies were the theme of the day-- baby crappie!

And another young turtle!

The painter turtle was very nice and took himself off the hook.

Check out those long fingernails!

Apparently, the turtle had somewhere to be, because visiting with me wasn't a priority.

See ya later, alligator... turtle and painter turtle!  :-)

Fishing with Sophie

Sophie is READY to GO FISHING!

She is my favorite fishing buddy, since she lets me catch ALL the fish.  ;-)

As usual the rockbass were going nuts in the creek, and the redear decided to get in on the action too.

Sophie, luckily, is very obedient.  If I forget to show her a fish and toss it back, she will attempt retrieve it.  She loves to go fishing, natch!

I almost felt scared for her as the hawks began closing in on us!

I put her securely in my lap!  Between her and the fish, those birds kept a close eye on us.

This poor fish is covered in black parasites, ick!

The warmer weather was so nice!

I caught all kinds of fish:  rock bass, gills, redear, creek chubs, shinners, and carp.  Creek fishing is surprising like that!

As Sophie and I walked around and fished we were bullied by a swan!

It didn't stop us, we decided not to play near "The Meanie" and we continued fishing.

All in all, we had a great day at the creek.  Sophie never did get carried away by hawks, or beat up by a swan.  She checked out a bunch of fish, and I managed to keep her from diving in after em!  ;-)

Prison Attack

Troy had a doctor's appointment in Indianapolis the other day.  He see's a specialist there that no one in our area can replace!  The two and half hour drive was uneventful.

Luckily, the wait at Riley was not as long as the drive to get there.

We arrived early and had forty minutes to take a stroll, roam the halls, and browse the gift shop.

After his appointment, we stopped by our ole neighborhood-- Pendleton.

I headed right to the park!  Come out of the truck and play!  My fish are still here!  Fall's creek was high and muddy from the recent rains.

But the pond was nice and productive!

Look closely and you can see this poor fish has another hook piercing it's eye socket, and my fly it's mouth.

Troy ran around at the playground, while I fished, and Glenn played games on his phone.  All of the sudden, I catch a glimpse of some guy feeding the ducks.  This guy looked just like Glenn!  He was even dressed in the exact same clothes as my husband!!  Yet, how is this situation possible, as the Glenn I married doesn't feed ducks!!!  I stopped and stared for a second or two, then reached for my camera to get proof of it.  By the time I was ready to focus in, he had left!!!!

I told Glenn about this mysterious sighting and he just laughed!  What's next, am I gonna spot this husband clone fishing?  I still can't believe he was feeding ducks!!!  Especially after the incident at work last week.

Glenn got jumped at the prison!  He was trying to enter a building and a got attacked! He swung his lunch bag at the attacker, and while trying to defend himself lost his truck keys!  The Emergency Squad was called to come to his aid!  He arrived home late, looking a mess, his slacks were torn and stained.  I knew there was some kind of situation happening at the prison, but not sure what.

It turned out, luckily, that Glenn didn't suffer any serious injuries and his attacker was a goose!  The goose also took Glenn's truck keys which were later retrieved thanks to the rescue team at the prison!  That place is dangerous!!!!

Brisk Spring Fishing

Good Morning!

I'm over here at the creek catching fish like crazy!

It's been awhile since I did any jig fishing.  So, I rigged up the ultra light with a brand new jig to see if I still remembered how.  I did!!!

The rock bass went nuts for it too!  This bass in particular had something gross on his side:

The jig fishing went over well, but some of the fish wouldn't cooperate when it came to the photography!

I'm pretty sure, I've caught every single rock bass in that creek.  They kept coming back for more!

This one was my biggest fish that morning!

Creek jig fishing is a great way to start the day!  :-)  I hope you have a good one!

Pay the Meter!

Hello There!  Jean, Jamie, Kathy (Jamie's Mom) and I fished in LaPorte the other day.  We started off fishing at Clear Lake, but decided to change locations for some faster action!  I knew just the spot to take em!

Because we were fishing along a rather busy street, we mostly used conventional gear.  Although, I could see someone catching a nice vehicle on the fly!  I caught it and I'm keeping it!!!  ;-)

I really wanted Kathy to catch a fish.  She tried, but none would ride her hooks, natch.  I even had her use the cute, little, ultra light, and still-- no luck!

Some of the fish were surprisingly large!

Also, a couple of guys recognized me from the Ice Derby on Stone Lake a couple years ago!  Here is Nathan, who won first place with a walleye at the Helping Heroes Derby!  The crappie he caught while fishing with us was 12" long!

Mark, his buddy, also won for the pike he caught at the Helping Heroes Ice Derby!  It was nice to see that these two guys remembered me, and are still as awesome as ever!

We all had a great time fishing!

Hey-- I got a business plan!  It came to me while shopping yard sales with Mom and Jean.

Mom got books, and Jean got a parking meter.

Yes, really, she bought a parking meter for Lil Robbie, who owns a bunch of cars.

Sooo, my plan is-- we place the parking meter in a popular lot downtown and only leave those two spaces open.  Lil Robbie can fill up the rest of the lot with his cars. Brilliant, I know!

I need to buy a parking lot!  Speaking of buying stuff, those tax auction certificates are running out of time.  Come the end of June, I hope to find myself busy with some new properties!
