Creek Fun & Patriotic Angel Food

Troy, Gladys, her friend, Amy, and I hiked around Morse Reservoir.

We tried our hand at fishing from the bank, but didn't have much luck.

So, we went to the White River to wet wade and fish for smallies.

Unfortunately, the White was still rather high, and still looked like chocolate milk; not ideal for wading.

We hiked around and enjoyed the sights.

The steep bank, made it exciting.

Troy isn't much for wading unless he can see his feet, ever since his encounter with a crawdad.

We fished a few spots along the bank.

And got skunked.

They were really looking forward to wading, so we went to a smaller tributary of the White.

The smaller creek was perfect for this batch of kids to wade and play in.

Mostly, we all hunted for rocks, specifically gold.  None of us struck it rich though.  It was fun anyways.

Troy had brought a bag of rice cakes with him and we were waiting to see if this squirrel was going to mug him.  The squirrel wisely decided against it.

In other news, the kids have been hooked on Pinterest lately.  They like searching for things they want me to help em fix.

One of the things they thought was cool, was an Angel Food cake.  The liked the name and wanted to taste of it.

It had been so long since I had made this type of cake, the kiddies didn't even remember it.

Well, they liked it!

I just used a box mix (I know, not at all like me), and topped it with fresh berries and whipped cream.

No recipe, just easy as can be.

I hope Ya'all have a Happy 4th of July!  :)
