Where's the Morels?

Hiking through the woods is one of my favorite things to do.

I was looking for another park, when I happened to come across this one:

Me and driving directions do not go well together.

Check out the little red spider mite:

The first shrooming hunt-- the woods was still rather bare.

The feeling of warm sunshine was awesome!

Each time in the woods I have discovered new things, like a protected alien flower bed!?!

Or somebody's used skull.

Trilliums are a welcoming site!

I like how Spring makes it's way right through everything!

Some plants uncoil and pop right up!

Jack in the Pulpit:

The Butterflies!!!  or aka, Dutchman's Britches:

A golden! I have my own names for half the wildflowers!  :)

The bank of a creek seemed to be a promising place for morels to grow.  As I was searching, I couldn't keep my eyes off the water.  I couldn't help myself and I kept hunting for fish.

Rice Weeds:

An antique trap or a weird kind of hobble strap and stirrup, were our guesses:

I searched the mossy spots well.

The one bit of consistent advice for finding morels has been to search around Elm and Ash trees.

The Ash trees at Coffee Creek Park were easier to search around, as they were all marked.  I still struggle with tree identification, especially if I do not see leaves.

In every place I have searched, I found every toad stool out there, but not a single morel!

I found stuff I didn't even want to find, like somebody's leg bones:

I found other types of shrooms:

For a hot minute, I even thought I had found actual morels:

A little fuzzy pink flower near the roots, that seems like an odd place for it:

As I was walking, I would approach spots that felt magical, like this "once upon a time grand tree":

Although, it seemed promising for morels, they were not there yet.  The search continues!
